Weight. A 6 letter word that holds WAY too much power. You’re either too thin, too heavy, too curvy, SO skinny, or just plain old fat.

In my side hustle, I represent products that help with weight loss, detox, hair growth and skin care. Our products can help you lose weight, gain weight or just get your daily suggested fruits and veggies. But its funny, because when I reach out to people, inevitably, on occasion, I will get a message like this…
My reach out message is as follows: Hey! ☺️ I know this is probably random but I was looking at your page and was wondering I lf you’d like to try some of our products and give me your opinion on it! 🌱 You seem super sweet and genuine and I think you would LOVE our products!!💛 You’d get a HUGE discount for doing so for me !! Would it be cool if I sent you some more info?!
No WHERE in this message do I imply that you are overweight, underweight. My JOB, is to reach out to people to share our products and see if you have any goals that could be helped with our products. And sure, they’re not for everyone, and these messages are few and far between, but it got me thinking, a LOT about weight, and our relationships with body image and the number on the scale. It’s a sad reality that we live in a world where people think that someone reaching out to offer products, is calling you fat or implying you need to lose weight… When the actuality of it is I’m trying to find out if you have any goals you want to achieve, that could be getting clearer skin or growing mermaid hair… Weight loss is NOT the only option available!
As someone that has struggled with weight and moderate eating disorders and also someone who comes from obesity genes, I have always had an unhealthy view of my body, and never been truly happy. Now at mere weeks from 30, I am changing the view of my body.
Now I don’t want to make it seem like I don’t know I could use to lose a few LBS… My inner critique and family like to remind me of this fact, OFTEN… But you know what… I am incredibly successful in my career, I have a loving husband (who likes my curves), I have wonderful friends, supportive family members, I have a GREAT side hustle that allows me to help myself and others get healthier and find financial freedom.
Over the years, I’ve been fortunate enough to fall in love, enjoy the spoils of a boyfriend, now hubby who loves to cook, I’ve taken on more jobs than I could handle, and definitely enjoy my cocktails. I also do NOT enjoy working out, I WISH I could be that person who loves to work out, but I’m not, yet, I’m working on it.
I am a curvy girl, I have BIG boobs, I have a big ole booty and hips that were made to bear children. My arms and thighs are thick and I will always need to wear bike shorts under dresses to prevent the chafe which is inevitable in these warmer days! Yes, I want to tone up, but I am also realistic to the fact that I truly enjoy eating. I don’t over eat, by any means, but I REALLY enjoy food, and HATE depriving myself, with that reality, I know I will NEVER be a size 4 again… then again I was 17 years old at that time.

But for the first time in my life, I feel HEALTHY. The products I use give me energy and nutrients I’m not good at eating; since bartending I have cut back on the crap I was eating & alcohol I would consume and I am slowly getting back into getting some form of exercise in 3-4 times a week.
I think the reality is we need to be HEALTHY, no matter what size you are, we also need to be happy and feel confident in our own skin. No matter if you’re a 2 or a 22, the only person who has a say about your size and weight is you… and if at a size 22 you’re a happy girl, DO YOU SISTER.
I recently came across this social influencer, she is a plus size model, for Fabletics and one of the most beautiful women i’ve ever seen because her happiness radiates from the inside out. Her confidence and beauty got me thinking that we need to be happy and content in our own skin. Size shouldn’t matter, being healthy and happy should be the only thing that matters.
My goal as I enter my 30’s is to become more confident in my own skin. Work on getting stronger and continue to get healthier. I’d also like to learn how to dress for my curves and feel beautiful regardless the number on the scale… Above all else, I want to continue to be happy. I want to continue to enjoy my tequila soda and our weekly HOMEMADE pizza night. I want to enjoy my life to the fullest surrounded by family & friends. I want to continue to grow my business and help other women feel good and confident in their own skin and achieve their goals, no matter if they are weight loss, skin care, hair growth and financial.
Keep doing you sis and ALWAYS remember, you ARE beautiful!
